MECDC Team Advisor Orientation. The fall 2010 teleconference, coincided with other Cyber Security Awareness Month activities in October, and provided an overview of the MECDC as well as an opportunity to ask questions and learn how best to prepare a team for the competition. It consisted of two separate presentations: Preparation Tips (18MB QuickTime, free viewer available) by Michael Murphy, and Resource Overview by JoAnne Wallingford.

MECDC Team Advisor Teleconference. The spring 2011 teleconference enabled team advisors to ask questions and receive further guidance directly from our SAIC CyberNEXS associates. Details required to access this teleconference were emailed to each registered team advisor.

MECDC FAQs. This page serves to provide answers to frequently asked questions about all aspects the competition.

MECDC Overview. This narrated PowerPoint presentation provides a general overview of the competition. This is a large file (~28 MB) and does require Microsoft PowerPoint 2007 or PowerPoint viewer on a Windows-based computer.

MECDC Preparation Tips. This document provides guidance on how best to to prepare for both components of the competition. It covers the community service project as well as all Rounds of the competition. Requires Adobe Reader.

2010 MECDC Users Guide. This guide provides detailed procedures and descriptions of the Practice, Qualifications, and Finals Rounds of the MECDC competition. Requires Adobe Reader.

SAIC CyberNEXS Training Resources. A collection of training resources available to Cyber Patriot (a closely related competition) coaches and participants. Includes a 13-minute video demonstration of CyberNEXS in action that also exemplifies how the Finals Round is to be conducted.

SAIC Cyber Patriot Security Tips. A collection of great tips useful for securing systems.

SAIC CyberNEXS Media and Downloads. A great source for tips and videos on cyber defense tips from the organization that will be hosting the online component of the MECDC.

Cyber Patriot III Competition. Another very closely related national competition open this year for the first time to all high schools. Your team can participate - for a fee.

Iowa State University "IT-Adventures" Cyber Defense Lectures. A great resource that provides video presentations and lessons pertinent to cyber defense.

OnGuard Online. A collection of very basic cyber security related informational resources including videos, games, and tools. The videos are fun.

Act Online. A collection of intermediate to advanced cyber security related informational resources including videos, tests, and complete courses. Very nicely put together. Users are required to first register.

Center for Infrastructure Assurance and Security - 2010 Cyber Patriot High School Cyber Defense Competition. A collection of intermediate to advanced cyber security related informational resources including tips, training, and downloads.

MECDC Tips from University Students. This collection of Power PowerPoint presentations was prepared by university students during 2009 to help provide general guidance. You must have either Microsoft PowerPoint 2007 or PowerPoint viewer on a Windows-based computer to view these presentations.
